Automatic Knife Sharpener

I designed and manufactured an automatic knife sharpener. I did this to apply all of the kinematic and force analysis that I learned in the Dynamics of Machines class. I used matlab to calculate the position, velocity, acceleration, and jerk and minimized the amount of jerk. I also used matlab to calculate the forces on each link and minimized the amount of stress on each link to increase product lifetime.

I was part of my Universities Design-Build-Fly chapter which was too compete with colleges all over the world. I designed and manufactured the control surfaces, avionics, did the necessary finite element analysis of the airplane. Our plane placed 38th out of over 100 teams.

Robotic Hand

I worked on a team to make a fully functional robotic hand that is capable of grabbing and holding things. This robotic hand was powered by an Arduino. I personally designed the code and electronic circuit assembly. I also 3D printed most of the components. The pictures include the general hand assembly, the powerbox, and the hand controller.

As part of the Open Orbit Foundation, I helped with designing, manufacturing a high-altitude balloon. The first iteration of the High Altitude Balloon, which could measure pressure, temperature, and record video data to an onboard Raspberry Pi. Although the first High Altitude Balloon (HAB) was unfortunately lost, we are currently working on part 2, which is going to feature ground-to-balloon communications using LORA radio transmission in mid-October 2025.

I am part of the founding team of the new organization, Open Orbit Foundation. We are an undergraduate student-led CubeSAT team that started on January 1st, 2025. I am the lead manufacturing, mechatronics, and controls engineer for the team. Currently, we are doing various projects like launching High Altitude Balloons to test Spacecraft hardware in a near-space setting, and are iterating on our portable Ground Station that we will use to communicate with the High Altitude Balloons. Later, we will try to make our own Dual Purpose Satellite and Weather Ground Station to communicate with the final iteration of our CubeSAT, which is set to launch in late 2027.

This is the DemoSat: The aluminum hull is CNC-milled out of Aluminum. Inside is a LiPo Battery connected to a buck converter, with a Raspberry Pi and an ardu-cam. When the switch is turned on, the DemoSat will automatically produce livestream footage to YouTube. The purpose of this is to produce a hands-on 1:1 scale model of a 2U CubeSAT, which is capable of recording and livestreaming footage to YouTube with a switch
